IPC & USAVE Transition

What the acquisition means for your pharmacy

Why did IPC acquire USAVE?

IPC and USAVE share a common mission of helping independent community pharmacies compete and succeed. By bringing the organizations together, IPC can strengthen relationships with participating pharmacies, create greater alignment among independent pharmacy owners, and position the combined organization to better support members in the future.

Will the USAVE identity continue?

Yes. IPC recognizes the value of the USAVE brand, relationships, history, and community. The goal is to build upon the strengths of USAVE while preserving the aspects of the organization that participating pharmacies value most.

Will there be immediate changes to my pharmacy's day-to-day operations?

No significant immediate operational changes are expected. IPC's primary focus is on a smooth transition and maintaining continuity for participating pharmacies while integration activities proceed.

Who will support USAVE pharmacies going forward?

The transition is being coordinated by IPC in partnership with Kate Helf and other members of the IPC team. IPC is committed to maintaining strong communication and support throughout the transition process.

How does this acquisition affect the relationship between USAVE pharmacies and IPC?

Many USAVE pharmacies already have a relationship with IPC today. One of the goals of the acquisition is to bring the USAVE group and IPC into a closer and more direct relationship going forward.

By bringing the organizations together, IPC believes it can strengthen member engagement, improve alignment across its membership base, and better represent the collective interests of independent community pharmacies. The transaction also allows IPC to work more directly with pharmacies that historically participated through the USAVE organization while preserving the relationships and identity that members value.

Does the acquisition change my membership status with IPC?

The acquisition does not require any immediate action from participating pharmacies and does not result in any immediate changes to existing member relationships. As integration planning continues, IPC will evaluate opportunities to better align participation and benefits across its membership base over time.

Why is bringing USAVE into IPC beneficial for independent pharmacies?

The acquisition strengthens IPC's ability to represent and advocate for a larger group of independent pharmacies that share many common goals and purchasing relationships. IPC believes greater alignment among participating pharmacies can improve collaboration, strengthen relationships across the membership base, and enhance IPC's ability to negotiate and advocate on behalf of independent pharmacies with key business partners in the future.

Will current contracts or purchasing arrangements change?

Existing arrangements remain in place unless and until members are notified otherwise. IPC is actively managing the transition and will communicate directly with participating pharmacies regarding any future changes, opportunities, or actions that may be required.

Will there be new opportunities available to participating pharmacies in the future?

One of IPC's goals is to evaluate ways to create greater alignment across its membership and purchasing programs. While no specific changes are being announced at this time, IPC believes the acquisition creates opportunities to strengthen member participation, increase collaboration, and support future growth initiatives for independent pharmacies.

Will IPC need updated banking or other information from USAVE pharmacies?

Yes. IPC will be reaching out to USAVE members to collect banking and other critical information needed to help ensure rebates are paid effectively, timely, and without interruption. In the interim, IPC expects to work through the existing USAVE infrastructure for rebate payments until those updates are completed.

What should USAVE pharmacies participating in the USAVE Humana contract expect?

Now that IPC has assumed USAVE's responsibilities under the Humana contract beginning September 1, IPC will be reaching out to participating USAVE pharmacies regarding next steps. IPC will need to contract individually with each participating pharmacy and obtain required attestations to help ensure both IPC and participating pharmacies remain compliant under the contract. As part of the Humana program under IPC, participating USAVE pharmacies will also benefit from a new compliance partner through PAAS for FWA/HIPAA compliance and audit support. More information will be provided when those communications are sent.

How will IPC communicate future updates?

IPC will continue providing direct communications as additional transition milestones are reached. Participating pharmacies will receive updates regarding contacts, programs, participation opportunities, and any actions that may be required.

Who should I contact if I have questions?

Members are encouraged to reach out to their existing IPC or USAVE contact with any questions regarding the transition. Additional communications and resources will be made available as integration activities continue.

Membership

Joining USave and what to expect

What does it cost to join USave?

There's no membership fee to join USave. You simply need to be a McKesson customer. Our goal is to help you maximize the rebates and benefits you're already entitled to — not add another expense to your plate.

Are there long-term contracts?

No long-term contracts. We believe in earning your membership every day. You stay because USave delivers value — not because you're locked in.

What is tri-level representation?

Unlike most buying groups, USave members get three dedicated representatives working for them: your USave rep for day-to-day support, an IPC rep for national buying power and programs, and a McKesson rep for wholesaler-specific needs. That's three layers of support you can actually reach.

What geographic area does USave cover?

USave serves 150+ independent pharmacies across 10 states in the Upper Midwest: Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, North Dakota, Colorado, and Wyoming. We know this region and the unique challenges rural and community pharmacies face.

Compliance & Rebates

Understanding your numbers and maximizing your returns

What are GPR, BPR, and GCR?

GPR (Generic Purchase Ratio) is the percentage of your purchases that are generic drugs. BPR (Brand Purchase Ratio) is the percentage that are brand-name drugs. GCR (Generic Compliance Ratio) measures how well you're purchasing from preferred generic sources — and this is the metric that directly impacts your rebates. Higher GCR = higher rebates.

How fast do rebates get processed?

USave processes rebates significantly faster than the industry average — typically 45 days or less compared to 90+ days at many other GPOs. Better cash flow means more flexibility to invest in your pharmacy.

What is the MyUSave Dashboard?

Every USave member gets access to the MyUSave Dashboard — your command center for real-time rebate tracking, compliance reports (GPR, BPR, GCR), payout history, and team access. Full visibility into your account, anytime.

Services & Support

What USave offers beyond buying power

Does USave help with 340B programs?

Yes. 340B is complex, and we help simplify it. USave provides eligibility assessments, enrollment guidance, contract pharmacy support, and ongoing compliance monitoring. Members typically see 25-50% savings on covered drugs when properly enrolled.

How does USave help with GLP-1 pricing?

GLP-1 medications are a major challenge for independents right now. USave works with members on pricing strategies, compliance considerations, and total store optimization to help you navigate this category without getting crushed on margins.

What if I have a supply chain issue after hours?

That's what our 24/7 Wholesaler Intermediary service is for. USave acts as your direct line to McKesson — helping you resolve backorders, handle emergency inventory needs, and navigate delivery issues any time of day. A real person advocating on your behalf, not a call center.
